Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
